The Need
OVER 8 MILLION CHILDREN LIVE IN ONE OF 49,000 SLUMS IN INDIA
These children are often forgotten and many never enter formal education due to a lack of resources, confidence and support.
47% OF CHILDREN IN MUMBAI’S SLUMS ARE MALNOURISHED
Children in slums are stuck in a vicious cycle of poverty, being raised in poor and unhealthy conditions and susceptible to exploitation, abuse, substance addiction and crime.
Our Partnership
In the slums of Mumbai, India, Vision Rescue provides support that focuses on the child, their family and the wider community.
Their learning centres provide schooling to children and help them access formal education, something they otherwise might never be able to achieve. Education will give these children a chance to break out of the cycle of poverty and exploitation.
To combat the challenges and mindset that come with living in a slum, Vision Rescue supports not only the children but also their families and the wider community through their medical and dental vans, sport programmes, emergency interventions, vocational training, and the setting up of micro-enterprises.
Our Response
For the price of 1 coffee a week you can contribute £10 a month that will give a child on the streets of India and their families an opportunity to break out of the poverty cycle – exchanging it for a future with dreams and hopes
